Part-Three

ADI Part Two TrainingPart-three is a practical teaching test which, like Part-Two, lasts for approximately one hour.

Click here to see a short video.

Like Part-Two you are only allowed three attempts; if you were to fail all three you would have to start all over again with Part-One (this process cannot start until two years have elapsed since the date that you initially passed part-One).

During this test you have to give driving instruction and demonstrate your ability to assess and correct (simulated) driving errors.

Part-Three utilises 'role play' as a testing method - the examiner simulates the drive of a couple of learner drivers at different stages of training, your job is to sort out any problems that are shown and develop new skills

The test is split into two 'phases' each lasting about twenty-five minutes.

During the first phase the examiner will play the role of a learner with little or no experience of the subject that you asked to teach.

During the second phase the examiner will play the role of a pupil with more experience and prior knowledge relevant to the subject you are asked to teach (this could be a learner nearing test standard or an experienced driver looking for help and advice).

You will be assessed on your ability to match your instruction to the level of the pupils who are portrayed, observe and correct any errors and maintain a safe controlled learning environment.

Avoid falling at the last hurdle...

Traditionally, Part-Three has been viewed as a problem area for many students, however this need not be the case.

DesperateProblems typically arise because of poor or insufficient training or because people have made a wrong career choice.

This is why we stress that it is so important to 'do your homework' and choose the right driving instructor training company before embarking upon your new career or risk disappointment later on ...

John Farlam (SmartDriving) can provide 'Rescue' training via specialist trainers for those who have failed with other companies... John can also offer personal training however he limits the time spent on this type of work - usually to the 'worst cases' (those who have had multiple exam failures). You will also exect to pay a primium price for John's personal assistance.

The methods that John has pioneered are used by the independent trainers that we recommend and by The Instructor Training Company. But it goes without saying that we would much rather see you pass the exams and qualify without the need for rescue training!
